Move in May

by Brian England on Tue, May 15, 2018

We are in the middle of May, have you boosted your outdoor activity level yet?

The shift to warmer weather has many of us focused on enjoying more outdoor activities. In fact, May is National Physical Fitness and Sports Month and this week is National Women's Health Week.  Getting active is a great way to give your health a boost!

If you are procrastinating on getting your outside activities in gear, a fun event that can get you moving is Bike to Work Day.  It is this Friday, May 18, 2018. If you are in Howard County, the primary event for Howard County takes place at the Whole Foods Parking lot in downtown Columbia from 7 AM to 9 AM.

How Much to Replace a Headlight Bulb & Brake Light on a 2010 Mercedes?

by Brian England on Tue, Apr 24, 2018

It sounds like an easy question to answer doesn't it? In fact, when people bring their vehicle in for a headlight bulb replacement, they expect to be in and out quickly, but that's not always the case. With cars built in the last decade, a simple task like changing a headlight or brake light bulb can be much more complicated than before. Gone are the days when an auto mechanic could wander out to a vehicle in the parking lot, lift the hood, change the headlight bulb and be back in the office in five minutes!

Preventing Falls in the Auto Shop and At Home

by Brian England on Tue, Apr 10, 2018

This is the second article in a series we are producing entitled "Looking Out For You and Your Car."

At BA Auto Care we are all about prevention.  We encourage all of our customers to practice preventive maintenance on their vehicles, and we put quality control processes in place to prevent mistakes. But our prevention efforts don't stop at cars.Having a safe working environment for our employees is just as important as doing a job right the first time. For two decades, back in the shop, we have used a simple reusable 2’ by 2’ mat to soak up spills and reduce the chance of falls. We also keep our work bays clean. Not only does this "look nice," but what's more important is that it helps to prevent falls. Taking steps to ensure a safer workplace makes good business sense because it means our work force stays healthy and our workman’s compensation rates stay low. Having a staff of reliable, healthy employees means we can provide you with affordable quality automotive service and repair.

Are You Prepared For a "Mental Health First Aid" Emergency?

by Brian England on Tue, Mar 27, 2018

This is the first article in a series we are producing entitled "Looking Out For You and Your Car."

To provide BA Auto Care customers with the most efficient and affordable service, we spend a great deal of money on equipment and software. We know that having the right technical resources is critical to efficiently delivering high-quality service, but we also know that without great employees, all that equipment and software wouldn't translate to much. That's why we also invest in our most important resource, our employees. We know that a safe, healthy work environment, good wages and benefits are critical to employee job satisfaction. These factors play a huge role in employee happiness and performance.

Like many other businesses, on the safety front, we have processes in place to promote workplace safety, and have a first aid kit around to ensure that if there is an accident or mishap on the job, we can take quick action. But what if the problem isn't related to physical health or trauma?  What if it's mental health?
